Mundane

Interaction Moment

Our project was inspired by the mundane interaction moment of opening a drawer. Normally, people simply use their hands to pull a drawer open, which is a very common and ordinary action. We wanted to transform this everyday interaction into something more unique and engaging.

Instead of opening the drawer by hand, we designed a system where the drawer can be opened using light. The idea is similar to a secret storage box—the drawer only opens when the user solves a simple math problem and uses light to input the answer.

To implement this interaction, we used an analog light sensor. The sensor detects the light, and when the user shines in it that corresponds to the correct answer, the system recognizes it and allows the drawer to open.

Through this project, we explored how a simple everyday action can be transformed into a more playful and interactive experience by introducing light as a new way of interaction.
